This is a great collection. It carries the DNA of the 1950 and 60s. In the early years, people started to seriously take the collection and content of Vogue magazines. It showed beautiful clothing that was photographed in such a creative way. All women could outfit themselves in these outfits of simple lines with slim skirts and gathered skirts and full circle skirts with simple tops of shirts, knit short sleeve sweaters, cardigans. The dresses were fitted with darts and fitted waistlines with zippers down the back. They would pick out patterns from books from McCalls, Simplicity, and Vogue in the fabric departments of local department stores. The department stores had fabulous fabric departments that had American made cottons and wools, laces, chiffons, brocades, and seersuckers. It was a creative wonderland. Of course, clothing could be purchased that reflected the style of the day, and some of it was quite good, even for children. The coats that they wore were purchased from the Montgomery Ward catalogue that was reversible; one side was a khaki raincoat with front hidden pockets and a detachable hood and the reverse was a beautiful black Harris wool tweed, hidden pockets and hood.
