Ermal Meta born in Fier and raised in Bari is an Albanian-Italian singer and songwriter. He moved to Italy from Albania at the age of 13, debuting as the guitarist for the band Ameba4 which took part in the Newcomers section at Sanremo 2006. Four years later, he took part in the same category at Sanremo 2010 as the frontman of the band La Fame di Camilla.

He started his solo career after writing several songs for other Italian artists. In 2017 he finished in third place in the Campioni category at Sanremo with the song “Vietato morire”, also winning the Mia Martini critics’ prize.

He won Sanremo 2018 together with Fabrizio Moro and represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon with the song Non mi avete fatto niente, finishing in 5th place.

Ermal returned to Sanremo in 2021 with the song “Un milioni de cose da dirti”. Though he was ranked first for most of the festival, he finished in 3rd place overall, also taking the “Giancarlo Bigazzi” prize for Best Arrangement.
